The Kennel Club Good Citizen Puppy Foundation Assessment:

This aims to provide a means of socialising puppies and to lay down a foundation of education and training.  The course is focused on the progress of the puppy and its owner over a period of 8 weeks.  The puppy and handler will be assessed throughout this period and at the end of the course, if assessed to have achieved the aims set out, will be awarded a Good Citizen Dog Scheme Puppy Foundation Certificate.

The Kennel Club Good Citizen Bronze Award:

This aims to produce a dog that will walk and behave in a controlled manner on the lead, will stay in one position on command, will allow its owner to clean, groom and inspect it, a dog that will walk and behave in a happy natural manner, under control on the lead.  The dog must be able to be positioned by its handler for inspection i.e. stand, sit or lie he T on either side or on its back, all on the lead.  The dog must come when called.  The Bronze award aim to provide handlers with a basic knowledge of understanding and training their canine companion.

The Kennel Club Good Citizen Silver Award:

This builds on the skills learnt in the Bronze Award whilst increasing the levels of difficulty.  The Silver Award is a natural progressions of practical dog training skills and introduces new concepts such as the controlled greeting, road walk and vehicle control exercises which are important in everyday life situations.  The Silver Award aims to provide handlers with a good knowledge of understanding and training their canine companion.

The Kennel Club Good Citizen Gold Award:

This is the highest level of achievement the Scheme offers.  It builds upon all the skills you have learnt and develops skills of the dog and handler.  The Gold Award is a natural progressions of practical dog training skills and introduces new concepts such as relaxed isolation, send your dog to bed and stop your dog exercises, which again are important in everyday life situations.  The Gold Award aims to provide handlers with a greater knowledge and understanding of their canine companion and will be tested in both indoor and outdoor locations.
